EAC Flash Tune – CARB Legal EcuTek ECU Tune for the 3.7L VQ37VHR (CARB EO# D-873-2)

The EAC Flash Tune is an EcuTek calibration for the naturally aspirated 3.7L VQ37VHR: the Nissan 370Z and Infiniti G37, Q40, Q50, Q60, Q70, M37, EX37/QX50 and FX37/QX70. It is exempted by the California Air Resources Board under Executive Order D-873-2 for street use in California, which has the strictest emissions rules in the country.

Tune remotely from anywhere in the world, or in person at Enthusiast Auto Care, an EcuTek-certified Nissan/Infiniti shop in Concord, California (San Francisco Bay Area).

🛒 How It Works

1. Build your package. The calibration and tuning labor are always included. Use the checkboxes to add only what you still need: the EcuTek Bluetooth unit, the EcuTek DESKEY, Phone Flash with EcuTek Cloud, and the EcuTek programming license (one per vehicle).
2. Flash your car. Do it yourself with the EcuTek Bluetooth unit and phone app, following the install instructions I send, or have it done in person in Concord.
3. Send me your logs. I analyze data logged from your car and verify that the product is functioning as required.
4. Get revisions for 12 months. They are there to make sure your car is running exactly as it should, not to retune for every modification. Every revision stays within the configuration that was submitted to CARB and exempted under Executive Order D-873-2, and emissions-related settings are locked.

⚙️ What the Tune Does

Power and drivability

• Gains across the whole powerband: stronger acceleration, sharper throttle response and more midrange torque
• Knock control that adjusts ignition timing in real time and adapts to the fuel in your tank. Higher-octane fuel can be used, in line with the factory's premium fuel recommendation for this engine
• Automatic transmissions: EAC's custom torque models replace factory logic for smoother, faster and more consistent shifts
• Manual transmissions: launch control and flat-foot shifting
• Fully adjustable secondary traction control for road and weather conditions

Engine protection

• AFR fail-safe: torque reduction during lean conditions to avoid detonation
• Coolant overheat fail-safe: torque limit at 126°C
• Low oil temperature throttle limit to reduce stress during cold starts
• Knock detection that is more active and sensitive than OEM
• Valet mode and anti-theft lockout

📈 Results

About the dyno chart: it's from a 2013 Infiniti EX37 AWD, and the tuned peak power shown was made on 91 octane fuel. Look at the gap between the curves across the whole rev range, not just the peak: that added area under the curve is what you feel when you accelerate.

Results vary from car to car. Every VQ37VHR has its own knock sensitivity, and the calibration only adds ignition timing where your engine can safely take it. How much power your car makes depends on that engine's characteristics and the fuel you run, and fuel such as 93 octane often allows more timing and more power. The results shown here are typical, and some vehicles will make more or less power. As an example, a rear-wheel-drive car making 300 whp can reach 330+ whp. AWD drivetrains absorb more power on the way to the wheels, so AWD models typically show smaller numbers than rear-wheel-drive 370Z, G37, Q50 and Q60 models.

⚖️ Why a CARB-Legal Tune Matters

Since July 19, 2021, California smog inspections check your ECU software. Any tune without a CARB Executive Order automatically fails the smog check, and the owner has to pay to reflash the car back to factory software to keep driving it legally (The Drive). The other VQ37 tunes we reviewed have no CARB EO, and several are sold explicitly for off-road or competition use only.
